When my mom was in town a few weeks ago we had the chance to check out the current Richard Avedon and Ansel Adams exhibits at the SFMOMA. Avedon’s use of edgy lighting and the ability to capture the essence of a person’s character is well juxtaposed with Adams’ timeless California prints. I’ve yet to discover another photographer who can print an image of a rock to inspire like Adams does. Wandering these exhibits makes me re-fall in love with photography like reading Steinbeck tends to put me back in front of the keyboard to pound some more out on the book I’m writing.
We also headed over to the California Academy of Sciences to be dazzled by the fishies and the [butter]flies. Kickin. Although the fish were behind glass the pictures still speak for themselves.
